I am a certified labor doula through DONA International and a certified postpartum doula through CAPPA and have completed Certified Lactation Educator training through CAPPA. In addition, I am a trained Hypnobabies (R) Hypno-doula and I have attended the Advanced Practice Birth Support Program at Mountain Midwifery Birth Center as well as many other advanced training courses. I am a certified nurse assistant (CNA). After many years of doing doula-like work for friends and family I was able to leave the corporate world to become a full time certified labor doula and postpartum doula. Now I get to do work that I truly enjoy! I have experience with twins, VBAC, surrogate and non-traditional families. I am a mother of 3 teenagers. I am honored to be able to help women and families prepare for and meet their birth goals. To me, every birth is a miracle!

Barb served as our emergency/back up doula when our doula was not able to attend the beginning stages of my labor. We had never met Barb but she immediately came to our assistance and proved to be an extremely competent doula and without knowing us beforehand, she carefully read our needs and provided us with quality and tailored support. She stayed with us until the other doula showed and we are so appreciative of everything she did to make my labor a memorable and manageable experience. She also followed-up after our baby was born and provided me with breastfeeding advice. Overall, she is a pleasant and knowledgeable person and a wonderful doula and I am very happy she was there for my labor.

Barb was awesome! She did everything she said and so much more! I had a fair share of struggles post delivery and she was there for me weeks after our little girl had arrived offering support and encouragement. I highly recommend having a doula – especially for your first birth. My husband and I interviewed 3 doulas and Barb was our favorite…we love telling other people about our amazing experience with her!

Barb is amazing! As first time parents, we were a bit aprehensive of the birthing process, so we were really comforted by having Barb there to support us through delivery. My husband was especially grateful that she came to our house while I was in labor, helped coach him and teach him what to do to comfort me, and was there as a guide to let us know when we should be calling the midwife and thinking of heading over to the birth center. We were especially glad to have Barb with us when we had to transfer from the birth center to the hospital. Since we were less fimiliar with the hospital environment, she was extremely helpful in letting us know what questions to ask and what options we might have in order to help us get the birthing experience we were hoping for. In the end, she stayed with us for about 21 hours. We are so thankful to have had Barb at the birth of our son and will be honored if she will join us when the time comes for baby #2.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Barb. We took a child birthing class and read all the books but as first time parents you really don’t know what to expect or how you will handle it. Having Barb there to coach my husband, support us both and help us roll with the punches was invaluable. Her knowledge and experience helped make me feel like things were always headed in the right direction and that I was doing a great job! I know I would not have been able to stay strong and continue with my plan to have a natural child birth if it hadn’t been for Barb. She never tried to tell us what to do but her presence and encouragement allowed me to continue when I thought I couldn’t. She always had something new to do when I needed it, a new comfort technique, position, or strategy. She is positive, encouraging, comforting, and just the person we needed on our team.
